Overview


The Kyle Law Firm is a personal injury and criminal defense case law firm. We are seeking a motivated, experienced Litigation Paralegal to join our team and provide immediate relief to our Litigation Department. The ability to work both collaboratively and independently with multiple attorneys and other legal staff is a must. The ideal candidate will have a Paralegal Certificate from an accredited University or program and at least five (5) years of experience in a true Litigation Paralegal role at a personal injury plaintiff's law firm OR (if no Paralegal Certificate) at least seven (7) years’ experience in a true Litigation Paralegal role, with trial experience, at a personal injury plaintiff's law firm. This individual must be extremely organized, self-motivated and able to work without supervision as well as accept instruction. Our firm does go to trial.

Duties

  • Assist Lawyers with litigation cases, from transfer from Pre-Litigation section through closure of the case through trial or settlement.
  • Efficiently handle 40-50 cases with room for more.
  • Meticulously follow current pleading, discovery and trial rules for Texas personal injury litigation.
  • Draft answers, notices, affidavits, motions and petitions, correspondence, and discovery requests.
  • Prepare and coordinate document production and responses to discovery requests.
  • Analyze, review and organize documents and data from materials produced during discovery.
  • Contribute in all aspects of working with attorney to draft and finalize pleadings.
  • Facilitate in the consideration, interview and hiring of necessary experts, designation of same, and other participation of experts.
  • Schedule depositions, hearings, trials, and meditations.
  • Utilize Lexis-Nexis legal research database for applicable inquiries.
  • Anticipate important deadlines and manage attorney calendar regarding deadlines.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely with clients, potential clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
  • Manage multiple projects with frequently changing priorities.
  • Monitor and manage document management system.
  • E-file and E-serve case documents.
  • Prepare and organize Trial Notebooks.

Skills

  • Proficient in personal injury law.
  • Strong knowledge of legal research databases including Lexis-Nexis.
  • Experience with document review processes and attention to detail.
  • Excellent writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Strong interviewing skills for gathering information from clients and witnesses.
  • Familiarity with project management principles within a legal context.
  • Proficient in using FileVine, or similar case management software.
